I Took a Paycut for a Remote Nursing Job
Earlier this year, I was the most burnt out physically and mentally then i have been in years. I loved my previous job and the pay was great, but something was missing and i constantly felt terrible. As much as I wanted to stay and suck it up, I knew I needed a change.
So I applied to as many jobs that were in my current hospital system that were hybrid positions. The key words i included in my search were triage and hybrid. When I was looking only a few popped up, but i applied and eventually got an interview.
The one thing my mind kept repeating was that I couldn’t afford to take a pay cut. Even with fluctuating hours in a procedural unit, the call and extra pay was really helpful but very inconsistent.
I had mixed feelings on my last day, as i love patient care and loved my job, but when monday came i felt this overwhelming calmness. I realized I had been manifesting and hoping for a remote job for a while and I didnt really want to leave my current hospital system.
If you are feeling the pull to leave bedside and go remote, I definitely recommend looking into it. I will keep you all posted on my thoughts as I continue to train and learn my new role.
I also hope to bring you more engaging content with my mental health improving :)
As always, I am so happy to have you here and a part of this community!
